Today I noticed two new top teeth have popped through! That takes the grand total up to six---woo hoo! Along with the two theme---Ava got 2 new bumps today at school. She tries to run while picking up anything and everything and ended up tripping and bumped her head on the toy she was carrying. She was totally fine but has a nice bump in the center of her forehead. While visiting on my lunch break, Ava bent down to pick something up and bumped her head on a low shelf in the room. She bumped in the same place so the 2 separate bumps have merged into one. I'm thinking we need a helmet for this one :) On a happier note, Ava walked from my classroom down two long hallways and a ramp out to the front door! It's a pretty long walk but she did it. I did have to coax her along a few times since she felt the need to stop and talk to everyone. She's getting too big!

weekend recap
So it rained for 3 days straight here which I didn't totally mind because I was so sick all weekend. It was a nice change staying curled up on the couch watching movies & just relaxing. Saturday night Steven & I headed in to Allston to Mel, Kristin & Dawna's apartment warming party. It was so great seeing everyone and nice to have a night out! The rest of the weekend was spent running errands, watching the Sox [can I say I was crying like a baby watching Pesky?] and getting stuff ready for Ava's party [invites are designed & ordered!] Have a fantastic week!
school pictures!
Here are the latest school pictures for ms ava lou---

notice how our daughter is the only one not painting on her paper
but on the table---at least she is original!

oops!
I forgot Ava's likes & dislikes for her 11 month post---
likes: grapes, bananas, ravioli, books, dancing, music, "helping" get dressed [she'll try to put her socks and shoes on her feet], being chased and finding us when we hide, spices, playing outside
dislikes: not getting her way :) if something is taken from her, veggies, coming back inside, not being able to move the gates
She is still fantastic & we love her---tantrums & all!

11 MONTHS!
Oh my goodness---11 months! One more month until the big ONE! And we are already on our way to toddlerhood :) Ava is a full fledged walker now which she tries to turn into running. It's amazing how well she gets around now. She loves carrying things when walking. Her favorite things to carry around are a one pound box of pasta or spice jars---one cinnamon and the other black pepper---don't ask! She's doing well eating and drinking from her sippies although she is now somewhat of a picky eater. Ah well it was bound to happen. She still does really well but has an opinion on everything she eats. We've been working on using utensils and she can use a fork or spoon if we put something on the end first. She makes a mess but that's how she'll learn.
Ava is talking up a storm and tries so hard to mimic the sounds you make. She absolutely adores books. I swear she could sit for hours flipping through her books. She gets right up in her chair, picks out a book and flips through it. She also loves music and loves to dance! Any kind of song or jingle makes her dance---it's too cute.
It is so great seeing her learn new things. She's so into exploring how things work. Like learning about gravity when she throws her sippy cup over the side of the high chair or sorting when she picks the carrot pieces off of her plate and keeps the chicken and fruit. [sounds better when you put it that way!] Everything Ava picks up she looks at it in different ways and finds a new way to use it. It's so great to see her using her toys in new ways and really studying how things work.
Ava has really shown her feisty side too. We've had a few meltdowns and she sure can use her voice when she isn't happy [as her teachers so nicely told me] It's funny because she was so feisty in my belly---even the doctors would laugh and just say good luck. Even with her stubbornness and meltdowns, she is the most amazing thing ever. She is our world and we are totally in love. Nothing beats her running towards me at the end of the day full of giggles and hugs. It's the best thing in the world.

We love you!!

Number 6
Poor Ava has ear infection number 6 AND a sinus infection :( Poor thing---no wonder she had such a tough weekend. I was looking at my checkbook and we've been to the doctor three times in September already...welcome to cold season :(

bits & pieces
Thankfully Ava's been feeling better---still has a cold but her mood is much better :) We went to a local farm to get a pumpkin and they were out! And apparently we missed apple picking season. Oh well, we'll try a new place tomorrow.
Ava discovered herself in a 3way mirror at Gap today and was in love! She kept looking at her reflection then ran over to the mirror and kissed all the babies---too cute. We had to peel her away from it. She loves to shop---can't image where she got that from :)

veggie strike update
Apparently the veggie strike is over---Ava ate an entire serving of peas tonight. I knew I'd crack her :)
Boston!
Steven & I took some vacation days this week & brought Ava into Boston for the first time. We stopped by the Public Garden & Boston Common first. I had to bring Ava to my favorite statue---the Make Way for Ducklings ducks! She had just woken up from her name so she wasn't too sure about these big ducks---but soon she was chatting away to them. After the Common, we walked down to Faneuil Hall & Quincy Market. We grabbed some pizza from Pizzeria Regina---so yummy---and ate inside Quincy Market. Ava had no problem gobbling up her pizza. :)
After lunch, we headed over to the waterfront & went to the New England Aquarium. As soon as we walked in we saw a huge exhibit of penguins---Ava's favorite! In the middle there is this 4 story coral reef tank. Ava loved watching the fish swim by---there were some BIG fishies! We even saw a scuba diver feeding the fish too. Ava chatted with the fish and waved when they swam by. We walked up to the top of the tank to look down. It is so quiet up there, except for Ava babbling away. :)
We went to the hands on tank. I wasn't sure if Ava would like it but after watching me, she stuck her hand in the water and gently splashed. I picked up a starfish and Ava touched it gently and then picked it up. I had to remind her to be gentle---I think the starfish got a slight squeeze!
After the aquarium, we headed back to beat the rush hour traffic. Ava seemed to have a great time and [thankfully] was in a fantastic mood despite her cold/teething. She did really well walking on the cobblestones and probably tripped less than me :) Her favorite thing to do was yell "ahhhhh" while going over the cobblestones so her voice would vibrate and echo off the buildings---we cause a scene where ever we go! Ava lavished all the attention she got when people would tell her how cute she is---oh we are in trouble :)
Ava also has been saying no now. It sounds more like noo [rhymes with moo] We are getting closer and closer to those toddler years!
